Humidity, as one of the important components of medicinal plants growth environment, has a great influence on plant growth. Before we know how to control the humidity of medicinal plants, it's important to understand why humidity can play such a key role in the growth of medicinal plants.
The first thing is that indoor humidity determines where medicinal plants absorbs water: if the air contains a high level of moisture, the medicinal plants chooses to absorb the moisture which is required for growth through the leaves. But in this case, the moisture content of the leaf surface will increase greatly, and it is easy to infect a variety of diseases to affect plant growth. If the moisture content in the air is very low, medicinal plants will intake water directly from the root. At this situation, the root of medicinal plants absorbs not only the water needed for growth, because the water in the root also contains nutrients. If only absorb water will not have too much negative impact on the growth of medicinal plants, but the range of nutrients in plants is very small, and once the maximum required for medicinal plants is exceeded, the medicinal plants leaves turn yellow and growth is constrained. And that runs counter to our purpose. So since the planting method we choose is LED tent, then we can control and adjust the humidity in the room to a good state, which in turn allows medicinal plants to grow healthily and quickly. Firstly, we need to prepare a temperature and humidity meter, which is available in ECO Farm Package. Because whatever adjustment option you choose, we need to use this tool to detect humidity in the tent.
What can we do if the humidity in the tent is too high?
Solution 1: Place a fan in the tent to speed up the flow of air, and it can take away water from some of the leaves, to prevent the medicinal plants from various fungi. The power of the fan does not need to be too high, as long as the continuous flow of air can be guaranteed. Fans with strong winds tend to topple medicinal plant. It would be better if you could use a fan to make a simple exhaust system.
Solution 2: Prevent dehumidifiers. The advantage of this device is that it automatically detects the humidity in the air and stops automatically if the environment is not in a high humid state. This method is simple, but you need to clean it manually if you store too much water, you can also choose a better-quality dehumidifier and connect it directly to the drainage system.
Correspondingly, if the humidity inside the tent is too low, what are the ways to refer to it?
Solution 1: The easiest way is to place a few glasses of water or a water-absorbing sponge in the tent. Please note that use clean water as much as possible, otherwise it will increase the possibility of bacteria breeding. Water through evaporation into the air can increase humidity, and reducing the intensity of ultraviolet light also can accelerate the formation of water vapor. Of course, it also need to have the premise of evaporation of water. This method doesn’t has a great impact on the humidity, and the process will be relatively slow. If the air is too dry, this inefficient approach is not recommended.
Solution 2: Swamp Cooler can be done. It is an alternative of air conditioner, but it is different from that. We all know that cooling can increase the humidity of the air, and if it is in a hot and dry environment, it highlights its advantages.
Solution 3: Place the humidifier, which is very direct like transporting water vapor to the air, to increase the amount of water vapor in the air.
No matter how many proposals we have suggested, the principles are much the same. Throughout the process of adjusting the humidity, please constantly pay attention to the change of the temperature and humidity meter, and adjust it according to its indication and the appropriate humidity for medicinal plants growth.
