How To Select the Best Rosin Filter Bags of 2022

November 04, 2022

While the type of strain is still the main factor in determining the quality of rosin, keep in mind that the type of microbag you use is also a factor in potency and the amount that can be extracted from the material.

As a container for buds or hashes, it keeps the rosin as pure as possible by isolating it from other unwanted ingredients in the extract.

But there are other things to consider when choosing a microbag for rosin production.

To help you decide, read the rest of this article so you can understand how microbags can be a key component of rosin extraction.

What is a rosin microbag?

This brings us to the original question: what is a rosin microbag? Why, it is a tool used in the process of creating rosin. Essentially, the bag is made of nylon sewn together to create a mesh-like material that acts as a filter system. This bag separates the plant matter from the desired cannabinoid oil you are trying to extract.

Rosin microbags are kind of like coffee filters. These bags are available in various grades, which are measured in microns. They can also be cut in various lengths and widths. A micron is a unit of measurement in the metric system and is equivalent to one millionth of a meter long (or about 39 millionths of an inch). For perspective, the average length of a human hair is 50 microns, and the human eye cannot see anything smaller than 40 microns.

How to use Rosin Microbag?

First, you need to make sure you turn the bag over to create a pouch shape. Next, take the plant material you want and break it down into small pieces. Fill the microbag with hemp material and fold over the end of the bag.

The bag is then placed inside the rosin press. Plates within the press heat, compress and apply heat and pressure to the contents of the bag, which pushes the oil out of the plant material and through the pores of the micron bag.

THE BUYING GUIDE

A wide range of micron bags are available in the market. These bags differ in size and quality of material. The following factor will make it easy for you to choose the right micron bag for your rosin press machines.

MICRON UNIT
The rosin press bags generally come in a range of 25–220 micron units. The lower micron bags are used for squishing the finer material while the coarse material is pressed with the higher micron size bags.

The quality and yield also with the micron number. The low micron bags deliver high quality and lower yield. The high micron bags deliver relatively low quality and higher yields.

The right quality and yield balance is achieved by selecting the right sized micron bags for extracting the rosin from the flowers. The micron unit of the filter bags therefore selected rightly to produce high quality rosin of reasonable yield.

SIZE SUITABILITY
The rosin bags are produced in different sizes. These sizes are designed to suit the filter bags with the plate dimensions of the rosin press machines.

If a filter bag has dimensions of 2×5 inch then it will not be compatible with the plate size of 3 inch width. The size of the filter bag also guides us regarding the load capacity of the bag.

The bag should be filled as per permissible limit to avoid the rupturing of the bag. It must be noted while purchasing micron filter bags for the rosin press that it should be compatible with the press machine.

MATERIAL
The material of construction of the rosin press is of high importance. Generally the rosin filter bags are manufactured from the high quality nylon material.

The rosin bags made of silk or metal are also available in the market. The silk bags have lower durability while the metal ones don’t offer a good filter of the rosin.

The filter bags made of 100 % provide highest quality while the bags made from the nylon mixed material deliver relatively lower quality.

Another factor should be noted that the rosin filter bags should have food grade material. The food grade material maintains the taste and characteristics of the extracted rosin concentrate.

SOLVENT RESISTANCE
The solvent resistance of the filter bags is very handy. The bags which show resistance to the solvent allow the filter bags to be cleaned with the alcohol or similar solvent.

The bags don’t rupture or damage during the solvent cleaning process. This cleaning process makes the bags available for reuse. If you are not interested in using the bag again then this factor is not important for you.

TEMPERATURE ENDURANCE
The rosin is extracted from the flowers by heating the flowers loaded in the micron filter bags. The temperature tolerance of each filter bag is usually mentioned on the packing of the bag.

Some high strength nylon filter bags are designed to withstand temperatures as high as 475 oF. Low temperature bearing filter bags are also manufactured.

The fine is squished under relatively low temperatures while the coarser material is squeezed under high temperature. A care must be taken that the filter bag should not be heated above the prescribed temperature limit of the bag.

Conclusion

Whether or not to use a filter bag is a very personal matter and depends on your own preferences. If you don’t mind getting the final product mixed with essential oils and botanical particles, you don’t have to use a filter bag. Rosin pressed without a filter bag tastes more like regular smoking. However, if you want to experience better application quality, we recommend using a mesh bag. Also, you should be aware that you may experience a slight yield loss when using filter bags for pressing, which means you ultimately have to decide for yourself what is most important to you, quality or quantity.

3 Best Bud Trimmer Machines in 2022 - Top Picks & Reviews

October 24, 2022

While a product tended to by hand can add romanticism to an experience, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is a practical method. One useful tool that you can find as a grower will eliminate hours upon hours of hard work: the bud trimmer.

Instead of carefully cut by hand to get each individual bud, the bud trimmer does it for you, giving you more time to attend to other things during harvest. The market for bud trimmers isn’t small, and it can be a bit overwhelming to dive into, but that’s where we step in. In these reviews, we’ll go over our favorite bud trimmers and tell you why we like them so much.

What is a trimmer?

A bud trimmer is a machine designed to separate the leaves from the buds of the plant. If you prefer, they can be combined with other harvest automation equipment to create an almost fully automated harvesting process. But even if you just choose the trimmer, you can simplify the operation, making it faster and less laborious.

Sometimes called trimmers, bud trimmers can be used for both wet pruning and dry pruning — or even at the same time for a few. Their price range is also impressive — trimmers aren’t just for commercial growers.

After all, harvesting a sea of green is no easy task, even for amateurs. Manual machines are generally more cost-effective than larger automated options, but they are also much smaller and fit into tight spaces.

The best bud trimmer for you will depend on how many plants you plan to trim, whether you want to harvest wet or dry, and whether you prefer a manual or automatic mode for manual operation.

WET TRIM VS. DRY TRIM?

Wet Trimming
Wet trimming occurs immediately after a grower harvests the plants. The flowers move directly to the trimming facility to eliminate downtime. The streamlined approach means growers can save time and space because they do not need to dry the buds before processing them.

Growers agree that cutting wet buds is easier. The leaves veer away from the calyx, so the flower remains less susceptible to damage inside the bud trimmer machine. This more user-friendly approach makes it ideal for novice growers.

Dry Trimming
Dry trimming takes place following the harvest, as growers cut the plant and dry the flowers. The buds must reach a particular moisture level, usually 8% to 12%, before entering a leaf bowl trimmer.

Plant-trimmed dry may look better too. Trimming preserves the bud’s quality, producing the same appearance as a hand-cut nugget. A dry trimmer comes with more precision, so the final products tend to get that high-quality, picture-perfect finish.

Things to Consider When Buying

Price
The decision between a pair of trimmers and a professional quality tumbler is quite literally the price of a car. Of course, your decision about these price points depends on the amount of plants that you need to trim.

How much you grow
If you are growing just for yourself and your friends, the highest level of trimmer you’ll probably need is something like a bowl trimmer. It is well known that the final stage of growth is the most tedious, so your level of patience will go a long way in determining what you think you need.

How much room you have
The size of trimmers can vary greatly, and the amount of space that you have will go a long way in determining what type of trimmer you buy. Even a “mini” electric trimmer is quite big, so if you don’t have a large area dedicated to your trimmer, it is probably best to go with a manual trimmer.

Conclusion

Well, you have it. We’ve tested most of the machines available on the market, and there’s no doubt that the machines on this list are some of the best bud trimmers available to date. What do you think? Which machines have you tried?

ECO Farm 4 Inch In-line Fan Exhaust and Intake Fan VS Hydrofarm Active Air 4" Inline Duct Fan

September 24, 2022

In-line duct fans are the most suitable duct fans in duct construction for residential, commercial and industrial applications. These fans are a great option if you have a lot of space.

Here, in this article, we will discuss the selection criteria and some other factors.

Are Inline Fans Better?

An inline fan works similarly to a standard wall mounted axial fan, removing stale or moisture laden air from a room to reduce the risk of mould and damp problems.

The difference between axial and inline fans is that inline fans are much more powerful. An inline fan’s impellers are designed to create a “mixed flow” by combining the features of centrifugal and axial impellers to create a higher extraction rate. This allows the extracted air to be pushed through longer ducting runs of up to 10m without a loss in pressure or a drop in performance.

How Much Electricity Does an Inline Fan Use?

Inline fans do not cost much to run, especially when you compare their running cost to the cost of redecoration or repairs required due to damage caused by mould or damp.

The fans are not constantly running, operating only when activated by the remote switch and stopping once the switch has been turned off or the set time on models with an overrun timer has passed.

To work out how much it costs to run an inline fan follow this simple equation:

Wattage of Fan ÷ 1000 x cost per unit of electricity = Cost to run fan for 1 hour

ECO Farm 4 Inch In-line Fan Exhaust and Intake Fan for Grow Room-White

Features:

While this ECO Farm inline fan might be small, it actually comes packing a punch. It is one of the best inline fans on the market. The unit comes with a high and highly efficient air flow. In addition to this, the unit operates quietly which is perfect . It draws a low amp which makes it perfect for small outlets and inlet connections. As though this is not enough for a feature, the unit also comes with a sealed motor shaft. This works to protect the fan from moisture. The strong casing is nickel plated which protects the unit from corrosion. Courtesy of its small size, the fan is compact and easy to install into any flat surface. Despite its 4” fan size, the unit still provides a whopping 190 CFM of airflow. Very low noise, Less than 37db, with variable speed controller, can easily adjust the fan speed. The fact that it is one of the least expensive units on the list makes it a perfect solution if you are just starting out with a small space.

Hydrofarm Active Air 4" Inline Duct Fan

Features:

Hydrofarm is one of the most trusted brands in the growing industry. The active air inline fans are among its in-demand products. Active Air inline fans are well-loved by many because of its proven durability. It is being designed with a ceramic-coated metal housing. This coating increases the lifespan of the components by reducing heat and friction. It also helps to prevent corrosion caused by thermal and acidity. Furthermore, the ceramic layer also gives your device a nice sleek-look. This inline fan is being equipped with a premium molded impeller. Its high-quality construction makes it possible to deliver excellent performance. Moreover, this fan also produces low-noise output. It is a big advantage especially for those who wish to keep their grow spaces discreet and low-key.

Things to Consider

Product quality
Quality is the degree to which a product meets user expectations. It can be measured by consumer satisfaction with the product or the market price of the product. A high-quality product may cost more than a low-quality product, but it will last longer and perform better.

Manufacturing quality is the degree to which a product meets its specifications and design requirements. A good quality inline fan will have consistent performance parameters across all units in a production batch or batch. Inferior quality inline fans may fail to meet their design requirements or fail prematurely due to poor material selection or construction methods that do not meet industry standards for safety and durability.

Feature
This feature is an element of the embedded fan that can be used to differentiate it from competitors’ products. The features of products are often described in their marketing materials, so you should be able to get a good idea of them before buying. Features are important because they increase customer satisfaction by providing benefits that customers value.

When considering a purchase, you should ask if the item has the desired functionality. If yes, continue to the next step. If it doesn’t have these features, then you may need to reconsider your purchase. The benefits are the features of the product that make the customer happy.

Budget
The next thing you should consider when buying inline fans is your budget. how much do you have? Do you have enough money for expensive items, or should you settle for something cheaper? These are the questions you should think about first before going there to buy anything, not thinking about how much money I have left after paying the bill or buying online or offline. You need to ask yourself these questions, so at least when it comes to spending money on something, no matter how expensive or cheap it is.

Price
The price of an inline fan is usually the first factor we consider when considering a purchase. However, this is only one factor in deciding whether to buy something. Consider all other factors (including value and quality) before making a final decision before deciding if it’s worth paying more for something with better features or quality, rather than buying something that’s cheaper but lacks in those areas commodity.

The best way to determine if a price is right for online fans is to do your research. Compare prices and features of similar items, and if the price is higher than you expected, ask yourself if it’s worth paying more for what you’re getting. If so, go for it.

Value for money
When you buy an inline fan, you have to make sure it’s worth the money. You should never buy something just because it’s cheap. The best way to make sure you get the best value for money is to compare different products. You should research each inline fan before choosing and comparing its features with those of other similar products. This will help you choose the best value for money.

You should also ensure that the product is durable and will serve you for a long time. This is especially important if you’re buying something expensive. If you want value for money, it’s best to buy something that lasts longer than a year.

Easy to use
Ease of use is one of the most important factors when buying an inline fan. You want something that is easy to use and doesn’t require hours of reading manuals or instructions. The simpler the better!

Consider how easy it is to use an inline fan. The easier it is to use, the more likely you are to actually use it. You should also consider whether the product is user-friendly for non-tech savvy people. The easier a product is to use, the more likely you are to use it more often. If the user interface is confusing, it can be difficult or frustrating to use.

Conclusion

This article thoroughly discusses inline duct fans, their operation, performance, size, and other aspects. Inline ducted fans are known for their properties of removing dirty air and purifying it. To keep cool, we can use it as an air conditioner. In most cases, inline ducted fans remove heat and moisture from the growing area.

They can also be found behind closed doors, protecting servers and AV equipment. With the addition of things like mufflers and carbon filters, many inline ducted fans are less efficient. Only air moving duct fans operate reliably at optimum efficiency while consuming little or no CFM.

ECO Farm Bluetooth Audio Aluminum Alloy 4-layer Herb Grinder VS Cali Crusher Grinder 4 Piece Black

July 23, 2022

A grinder is a great way to break down herbs into a finer texture. In fact, we know that most people use a grinder for plants. For the record, we don’t recommend buying pre-cut plants, as it spoils quickly and usually lacks flavor.

Not only do grinders make dry plant products easier to ingest, but they also increase the surface area so you can experience the flavor and quality of your herbs more fully.

Why Use A Grinder?

Using sharp teeth and a little hand power, or the press of a button if you’re working with one of the fancier electric types, a grinder rips your herb apart so that you don’t have to spare your fingernails or sacrifice the only pair of scissors you have in the house. As a result, you get perfectly smokeable ground bud without a sweat.

When you’re operating without a grinder, you can’t get your herb as fine as possible for optimal burning, especially if it’s that sticky-icky. Not to mention, you can’t get kief, the resinous trichomes that sparkle all over your bud and are mighty potent. Not easily, at least.

You could spend minutes cutting, or worse, picking your bud. Or, you could use a grinder and break down your stash in seconds and get kief, which you can sprinkle over your flower to enhance it. Talk about the icing on the cake.

Grinders also ensure an even burn. If you pack a bowl with chunky bud, then you can’t get as full of a bowl pack, and you’re essentially wasting it because it can’t heat it as thoroughly. Moreover, it’s harder to stir, and more often than not, there is still some green left, which you won’t realize until you go to dump out the “ashes.”

Joint and blunt smokers will benefit from a grinder as well. Plants that has been through a fine (but not too fine) grind can be evenly spaced out on papers and makes the rolling process breezy. And they smoke better, too.

Factors You Should Consider While Choosing Grinders

Choosing or purchasing a grinder can be a daunting task, especially if this is your first time doing so. Companies have recently tried to capitalize on the green rush’s mantra. They strive to produce the best grinders on the market, refining their production methods. It works as a versatile grinder for pipe bowls and as a fine grinder for vaporizers. If you hate the manual act of grinding your herb, an electric grinder will be a blessing to you.

Because of their numerous applications, many companies produce grinding machines. As a result, a wide variety of grinders have been made available. The following are some things to keep in mind when purchasing a grinder. With the help of this article, you can learn how to find the best grinder for your needs.

Aluminum Quality
It would be beneficial if you purchased an aluminum-alloy grinder. This should be your first consideration. Aluminum grinders are the best choice due to their safety and long-term usability.

To avoid contamination of the product with plastic grinders, use metal ones. For the most part, plastic grinders don’t last very long and aren’t very reliable. This is why aluminum is the best material for a grinder. With this grinder, you won’t have to spend money on repairs or replacements because it will last long.

Material
Material options for grinders are numerous. Grinder machines of this type have been around for a long time and come in a wide range of designs and dimensions. If you take care of your carved wood grinder, it will last you a long time. Grinder blades made of metal are easy to maintain as well as durable. Even if they don’t last as long as metal or wood, acrylic grinders will do the job.

Compartments
When it comes to compartments, grinders come in various shapes and sizes. A simple two-piece grinder has a single compartment for grinding and collecting herbs. Single-compartment grinders tend to trap bits between their teeth, and there is no additional storage space. Through holes in the first compartment, smaller pieces can fall into the second compartment of a three-piece grinder.

The second compartment can be used to place your herbs — three compartments-one for buds, ground plants, and pollen or kief-are found in four-piece grinders.

Size and Capacity
Before purchasing a grinder, it is important to consider its dimensions and whether or not it is suitable for travel. Grinder portable and easy to move may be what you’re looking for. The convenience of a portable grinder makes it possible to use it anywhere.

However, if you only prepare to use the grinder in a single location, a larger grinder may be a better option. For large-scale grinding, large-scale grinders are recommended. However, they may be prohibitively expensive to maintain and run.

Storage Capabilities
A good grinder should be able to store a lot of material. This saves you money by eliminating a separate storage unit for your grind. A magnetic lid is also essential because it prevents the smell of the grinder from escaping. This ensures that your privacy is protected.

When shopping for a grinder, one thing to keep in mind is the manufacturer’s warranty, which should be at least one year.

Conclusion

If you’re new to the market of plants, it can be difficult to know where to start when it comes to choosing the best grinder. Grinder technology is constantly evolving, and even the most experienced smokers can benefit from the latest advancements. You can still find a quality grinder that is durable for a great price, as long as you have done the research and chosen the bud grinder for your needs, you will be pleased.

EZTRIM Trimming Machine VS TrimPro TrimBox Leaf Trimming Machine

May 21, 2022

Many first time growers don’t know that trimming the buds after they’re harvested is a very important part of the process of cultivation. For a good smoke you need to remove the leaves that are left in the buds, this will better your bud’s appearance and flavor.

Wet Trimming VS Dry Trimming

Although there is an accepted best time to harvest plants, the best time to trim and manicure your plants is debated among growers. There are two ways to manicure them: wet trimming, and dry trimming. Some prefer wet trimming while others prefer dry trimming. Both are correct in certain circumstances, it all depends on things like time and the environment of the curing process, so it’s up to you do decide which one will work best.

Wet Trimming
Trimming your plants before drying is known as a “wet trim” because the leaves are still wet during the trimming process. This method is arguably the most preferred method for several reasons. Wet trimming gives you better access to your buds, the small leaves will be out due to their moisture content, making their removal an easy process.

Trimming this way will also result in faster drying because the extra plant material will be trimmed off.

Drying buds extremely fast will leave them smelling like hay. Even though they will dry faster, you should not accelerate the process even more (e.g. by applying heat or fans facing directly onto the buds).

Wet trimming is better when:

Your relative humidity is above 60%, and removing the excess plant material before drying prevents mold.
You have a small drying space, removing the excess plant material will let you fit more buds in the same space.
You want buds to dry more quickly, trimming leaves before drying will remove the excess moisture.

Dry Trimming
Dry trimming occurs after the drying process, this process can take 10–15 days, in this period buds will lose most of their moisture. Many growers prefer dry timing because it tends to be easier and less messy. Wet trimming can leave your hands and shears covered in resin very quickly, you will need a lot of cleaning breaks before finishing.

Trimming Guide: Dry trimming plant

Either way, both methods work well and you should decide which one you prefer by experimenting and seeing whats is better in your situation.

Dry trimming is better when:

You’re not worried about mold.
Your relative humidity levels are below 45%.
You want buds to dry more slowly (drying buds too fast may cause them to smell like hay).

The EZ Trim Machine comes with both a dry trimming grate as well as a wet trimming grate, giving you the ultimate control of how to process your flower. The Ez Trimmer is not only quiet and lightweight, but also features the following unique adjustable controls: Flower Movement through Airflow and Suction.

TrimPro TrimBox Leaf Trimming Machine

Features:

Designed to easily attach to any workbench, TrimPro trimmer is a lightweight wet bud trimmer that adapts to your workspace. Capable of pruning up to 1.5 pounds of buds, the Trimbox is the perfect partner for any small or home grower who wants to have a bud pruning system. The Trimbox comes with a stand and clip and can be used right out of the box. This machine is easy to use, you just move the buds onto the Trimbox grill while you swirl the material. Like other Trimpro machines, the Trimbox is easy to maintain and quick to clean.

What Should You Do with Trimmings?

Trimming might be a lot of work, but it leaves you with quality buds. It also leaves you with what many consider waste.

Don’t throw away the scraps just yet. There is a lot you can do with them. You can use the leaves with higher levels of THC (sugar leaves) to make products such as edibles. Fan leaves that have lower THC levels are useful for creams or even as herbs.

Trimming by Hand vs. Trimming Using a Bud Trimmer Machine
Hand trimming vs. machine trimming? It’s the question that plagues many growers. Trimming by hand has been the norm for centuries, but people are looking to streamline the process.

That’s where bud trimmer machines come in. They offer growers an alternative to a very mundane, time-consuming method.

Quite frankly, choosing your trimming method comes down to personal preference. The main factor you should consider is the harvest size. The main reason growers might opt for a bud trimmer machine is to save time.

If you have big harvests, one of these products will cut down on trimming time. Those with smaller farms don’t necessarily need to invest in these machines. Continuing to trim small harvest by hand is reasonable. Plus, it helps growers control the quality of their final product.

Why Should You Trim?

Trimming might be an extensive process, but it is well worth the results. Some reasons why you shouldn’t skip this critical step include:

More Visually Appealing Buds
Imagine pictures of buds in magazines or advertisements at a dispensary. They look perfect as they are, all uniform and free of excess leaves.

You won’t find buds this beautiful right off the plant. To look this good, you must trim them carefully.

Higher THC Content
Trimmed buds have a higher overall THC content. The reason is that you are removing the surrounding leaves that have high sugar and low THC levels.

More Pleasant Smoking Experience
Because they are much thicker than the actual flowers, plants’ leaves don’t wick away moisture as well. The result is a harsher smoking experience.

Cured and trimmed buds, however, have a more even moisture content. The result is a pleasant smoking experience with enhanced natural flavors.

Why Isn’t Everyone Using Bud Trimmer Machines?
So, why isn’t everyone using bud trimmer machines? They seem to offer the perfect solution to a common problem. Additionally, they are readily affordable and accessible.

Some arguments against bud trimmer machines include:

Standardized
There are many different strains of plants. Their flowers all have varying shapes and densities. Some growers, therefore, claim that each bud requires its own unique, by-hand trimming approach. They feel that bud trimmer machines are too standardized and don’t consider each unique flower.

Quality
Some growers also claim that machines are too powerful. They don’t offer the same delicate touch as by-hand trimming does.

There is some truth to these claims; poor-quality machines can ruin your buds. As long as you get one with gentle rotations and non-stick features, the manicuring process will go smoothly.

Conclusion

The concept of implementing the right bud trimmer for your farm no longer has to be a scary thought that keeps you up at night. Innovations in industry-driven trimming technology have caught up with cultivator demand, and it’s time to take a serious look at options for your business. Several trimmers in the market can help you maintain the required standards and increase your productivity when it comes to plants trimming. With proper trimming of the buds, you can maintain the flavor content and the taste of your final product.

ECO Farm 10 IN-LINE FANS VS HURRICANE Inline Duct Fan

April 25, 2022

While you grow plants in a grow tent, then several things come to mind. To make sure the plants grow enough and get enough air and temperature from the environment, you need good ventilation. For that, you have to install the best inline duct fan to grow a tent in your small nursery.

If the airflow is not adequate in the tent, then the plants will absorb more CO2. Humidity will make the plants ill. So, to avoid that, installing a duct fan is a great solution. Here we will discuss the best duct fan that you can install in your grow tent. Everything from motor power to CFM, we will let you briefly detail each product you can choose.

How quiet can an inline fan be?

It is a really good question because you need to know exactly how much noise a fan would produce in order to select one of the options available in the market. Luckily, most of the manufacturers provide the details of the noise their device can produce at maximum.

It is scaled in dBA and we have mentioned it alongside every option we have discussed so far. Remember, this is the maximum noise a device would produce when it is working at full capacity. It means that you can encounter less noise as well depending on the environment and the speed of the fan. All the fans we have mentioned are quiet and they produce a negligible amount of noise.

ECO Farm 10 IN-LINE FANS

Features:

The ECO Farm inline fan has a heavy-hitting blower with a fan speed of 2750 RPM for an airflow of 810 CFM. Moves air through your target location efficiently for optimal ventilation. A powerful fan puts out only a 60 dB noise level. Tight, precise construction eliminates rattling and reduces wear and tear to give the element a long life. The aerodynamically designed centrifugal impeller of this unit delivers strong airflow with a disproportionately low sound profile. Ideal for cooling lighting fixtures or controlling hot and humid conditions in grow tents/rooms.

HURRICANE Inline Duct Fan for Grow Room

Features:

With a diameter of 10 inches and a power rating of 780 CFM, this is another product that is ideal for large-scale applications. This is ideal if you are a commercial grower, not a hobbyist. In-line fans are made of powder-coated steel. With this, you can be sure that it will be impressive in terms of durability. Mounting brackets and comprehensive instructions are already included in the kit. With the latter, installation can be done in minutes. Finally, the manufacturer offers a five-year warranty, which should already reassure you that the quality will be hard to beat.

How to Pick the Best Inline Fans

When selecting a quiet inline duct fan, you need to think about more than just noise level. Be sure to consider these factors:

CFM Rating
CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute and is a rating of how much air the fan moves. As this is a fan’s main job, it’s obviously an important factor.

CFM does relate to room size, but this is less important when thinking about applications like a grow tent. Most inline duct fans will be more than enough for a small tent. But, as I mentioned above, you want to add an extra 25% onto your needs.

To work out the right CFM, you first need to know the volume of your space in cubic feet. This is the length times width times height. For example, a tent that’s 4’ x 3’ x 6’ has a volume of 72 cubic feet. You’d need an inline fan with a CFM rating of at least 72.

Always consider choosing a model 20% above your baseline need. It will account for the loss of pressure induced by the turns and length of your ducting.

If you have grow room accessories like a silencer or a carbon filter, it will reduce the inline fan’s performance. I discuss this in more detail in the final section of this article.

Generally, larger inline fans will have a higher CFM rating. Most manufacturers will state it, so check this before buying.

Variable Speed
Variable speed is useful for quiet inline fans because it impacts the noise level. Fans operating at a higher RPM will produce more noise than at a lower speed.

Speed is also tied to CFM, as faster speeds usually mean more airflow, although this also relates to the fan’s size.

If the inline fan’s CFM is right for your needs, you don’t need variable speed. But, opting for a variable-speed fan with a higher CFM allows you to operate it at lower speeds. This means less noise, even with quiet models.

The controller might be a remote or a dial. A dial will give you greater flexibility than preset speeds, but either works fine.

Noise Level
A typical domestic inline fan can have an operating noise level of up to 70dB. This is the equivalent of a noisy restaurant. So, it’s not painfully loud but would be annoying if you’re dealing with it constantly.

Acceptable noise levels for the quietest inline fans are subjective. But, I’d recommend looking for ones around the 35–45dB level. This is around the same level as a refrigerator, so shouldn’t be too distracting.

The important things to look out for when picking a quiet model are:

Die-cast or unibody housing — reduces vibration.
Lubricated ball bearings.
Low noise level ratings on the product specification
High quality parts (metal fan blades, EM/brushless motor). This will usually be reflected in the price.
Any manufacturer touting their fan as quiet will state the decibel level. Look out for this and compare it against a chart of common sounds for a better understanding.

Installation Compatibility
When installing a quiet inline fan, you should ensure it matches the other equipment you have. It isn’t a massive problem if you’re buying ducting but can be if you’re integrating it into an existing setup.

Silent inline fans come in a few sizes: 4”, 6”, or 8”. You can get 10” and 12” too, but these are less common.

The fan’s diameter is tied to factors like CFM rating, noise level, and to a lesser extent energy consumption.

Whatever size you pick, just make sure everything else matches it. For example, ducting and carbon filters must be the same diameter. If they’re not, you’ll have a difficult job of making them fit.

When setting up a grow tent, it makes sense to buy a complete kit if you can find one. It simply takes away the problems of finding compatible hardware.

Temperature and Humidity Control
These extras aren’t that important for somewhere like a kitchen but might be helpful in a bathroom. Generally, you’ll want temperature and humidity control on a grow room exhaust fan.

They’ll obviously increase energy consumption but should have little or no impact on noise level. If choosing a model with these extras, make sure it comes with clear control modules. Digital is best if you need high accuracy.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the inline fans are common with different specifications for the roles. We spent time researching, and out of the many options, narrowed down to the top rated quietest inline fans on the market.

They’re both very simple to set up and extremely effective for even difficult tasks.

ECO Farm 18inch Table Automatic Leaf Trimmer Machine VS Pro-Cut Fast Leaf Trimmer

April 14, 2022

How many plants can a trimmer handle in a day? What about damage to the buds? Do I have to trim the buds by hand? Today we review bud trimmers for your indoor plants. Find one that is right for your crop. Keep reading!

Post Harvest Trimming

Once your plant’s trichomes have properly developed, it’s time to harvest. While flowering is the final phase of the plant’s lifecycle, your work is far from over. Proper post-harvest trimming techniques ensure buds are ready to consume and little goes to waste. The different trimming techniques have advantages and disadvantages; the final decision is ultimately up to the grower. Any experienced trim team will have the experience and resources to hand or dry trim while the plants is dry or wet.

Hand Trimming
There’s no substitution for hand trimming. Handling each individual bud allows the trimmer to perform a higher level of precision, preserve as many trichomes as possible, and is more environmentally friendly than using machines.

Hand-trimmed buds are more valuable in today’s craft plants market. Consumers appreciate the attention to detail and preservation of each bud’s natural beauty achieved by hand trimming.

Machine Trimming
Utilizing technology over manual labor also has advantages. For large grows, trimming every bud may not be an option. Machine trimmers can process plants at an exponentially higher rate than a plants trim team. Using a machine trimmer makes sense for large operations, but the buds will become more uniform, and more flower is wasted.

Dry Vs. Wet Trimming

Deciding when to trim is entirely up to the grower. Everyone has their own preference, and there are advantages to trimming flower immediately vs. letting it dry out first.

Wet trimming is much easier and saves time but gets messy. When plant is fresh, the leaves stick out, making them easier to cut; however, the buds are still we and can be very sticky. The disadvantage to wet trimming is a potential reduction in quality. The outer leaves retain moisture in the drying process; the buds can get dried out prematurely when they are removed.

Dry trimming takes more time but can produce higher quality bud. Allowing buds to dry retains moisture and creates a more enjoyable consistency. The dry trimmed flower usually has a better taste and more colorful buds.

6 pro tips for trimming Plants

In the end, whichever approach you choose, excellence is on the horizon. Your decision depends on your environment, space and time restrictions, and preferences.

Whatever you do, these tips transform the process from efficient to super-efficient. They can turn even absolute amateurs into plants trimming pros in no time.

1. Cut the plant and branches first
Learning how to trim buds one by one becomes much easier when you minimize the bulk on the get-go.

Cut the plant off the base, remove individual branches, and work on them one by one, removing and manicuring the buds. Plus, plant segmentation makes the task much less demanding when it comes to space.

2. Remove fan leaves right away
No matter whether you’re going for a wet or dry trim, there’s some work to be done immediately after harvest.

Cut off large bladed fan leaves right away. Doing so lets your plant dry in half the time and reduces the branch bulk before you.

3. Keep several separate piles
Each part of the branch you’re cutting has a different future use. If you let everything drop beneath your seat, you’ll never manage to separate fan leaves from the stalks.

Instead of letting the mess accumulate, dedicate your tray to the buds themselves and separate different parts of your plant.

4. Don’t waste the trim
While you’re trimming plants, you’ll end up with heaps of foliage and stems lying around. A good stoner is a sustainable stoner, and nothing should go to waste.

Leaves are perfect for tea, butter, or kief. You can even use stems for cooking and making extracts, from hash to topicals.

5. Keep rubbing alcohol and extra scissors
Trimming plants gets gluey. You’ll want to keep your scissors sharp to avoid giving up on your latest bunch of buds.

An expert trimmer has both cleaning supplies and an extra pair of scissors on hand. That way, you have to wipe only half as often. You’ll stay in the groove, too.

Sharpen everything before you get cutting for bonus points.

6. Save the scissor hash
Scissor or finger hash is the resin that collects on your tools and hands while you’re going at it. It might not sound delicious, but it is.

Don’t dispose of it. It’s valuable smokable material that you can collect and store somewhere for a quick hit.

Conclusion

Whichever process of trimming plants you choose, you’ve made the first step towards the colas of your dreams. Use this guide for the basics and build on your skills until it becomes second nature.

It takes a bit of practice, but you’ll revel in the results. Two harvests from now, your grower friends will be coming to you for a lesson on how to trim plants.

Stay tuned to our blog for more handy guides such as this one. Our educational resources are here to help plants farmers every step of the way, ensuring the highest quality plants in gardens across the country.

ECO Farm Hanging Dryer Rack VS WeDryer S1 (30 Cm Diameter) - Full herb dryer

April 12, 2022

If you are setting up a new facility for your plants growing business, it is essential to make the most of your available floor space for your grow room and your dry room. Efficient space management and usage of appropriate drying rack systems improve efficiency and increase your yield.

What is a Plants Drying Rack?

Making a fresh batch of usable plants takes more than one step: growing, harvesting, drying, and curing. Drying your plants takes away the moisture from the yield to prevent it from developing that disgusting mold or mildew.

There are two main ways to dry your plants: hanging your plants upside down or using a drying rack. You are essentially organizing the way your harvest is going to be placed in order for it to dry. Hang Drying your plants can be a direct method of drying while using drying racks evens out the drying.

Dispensaries that are trying to save a buck on their drying process own hang-drying rooms as the cost-effective choice. Those who can afford it use plants racks for them to use space effectively. Drying racks lessen the risk of moldy plants compared to hang-drying. Additionally, they lessen the chance of contamination by other elements. That is also why commercial businesses prefer them. Smaller stores might not have the same funds to afford the structures that drying racks come in.

Why Does Food and Herbs Spoil?

We don’t usually give much thought to why produce, herbs, and meats spoil. However rest assured, plants cultivators think about it all the time. And the answer is simply this: the Earth recycles everything. The nutrients and elements you use to fertilize your plants are absorbed and assimilated as your plants grow and eventually flower.

When your plants die, nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, and Carbon are all reclaimed by the Earth through a process called “decomposition.” Decomposition (or decay) occurs when microorganisms work together using oxygen and water to break down organic material into simpler forms. These microorganisms include:

Mold
Bacteria
Fungus
Yeast
Eventually, excess nutrients not used by the microorganisms for reproduction are reintroduced into the soil. And this is a good thing. Decay creates a never-ending cycle of natural composting in the environment, making valuable nutrients available for the next life cycle of vegetation and wildlife.

Decay or decomposition is nature’s way of composting all organic matter. Microorganisms break-down foods using the water and nutrients found inside them.
The decay of plants works exactly the same. And preventing nature’s attempt to compost your crop too quickly is especially critical to farmers, who use nearly every part of the plant to generate revenue. The good news is, you can mitigate mold and prevent “bud rot” (the decay of your buds) using plants drying trays.

Why Do Cultivators Dry Plants?

Mastering plants dehydration will make or break your cultivation business. Properly drying plants increases your strain’s cannabinoid potency, which translates to higher sale prices. Efficient drying also sets your buds up for highly successful curing, greatly extending your flower’s shelf life and improving its aromas. In addition, drying your plants will:

Halt the growth of mold and prevent “bud rot”
Preserve cannabinoids and terpenes
Increase potency and aroma
The potential for dehydrating plants is uncontested. However, failure to dry your plants properly can have the opposite effect, leading to contaminated flower or terpene burn-off.

Properly Drying Plants to Prevent Mold
Finding any trace of mold in your plants crop is discouraging at best. And after being very careful to prevent mold during your plant’s vegetative and flowering cycles, the last thing you want is to find that mold has latched onto your flower during the drying process.

Fungus in the form of mold and yeast can single-handedly contaminate and ruin your entire harvest if left unchecked. It’s no wonder cultivators go to great lengths to reduce their bud’s exposure to any microorganisms while managing the climate in their drying room.

Plants with mold and bud rot
Once mold sets in at the stem, it will quickly consume the bud, resulting in bud rot. When mold is visible on the flower, the entire plant is at risk and should be closely inspected for further signs of contamination. You should consider isolating infected plants.
Although mold can survive with little to no water, mold requires moisture to reproduce. The trick is to reduce your bud’s exposure to contaminants such as mold while you use plants drying trays to reduce the water content within the plant material. However, if you dry your flower too quickly, terpenes and lower cannabinoids will evaporate.

However, drying your plants buds too slowly will give mold the time and conditions it needs to reproduce and thrive. This has resulted in many plants cultivators using faster drying methods, even if it means burning off some of the terpenes. The loss of a little aroma is preferable to the total loss of valuable product.

Cannabinoid and Terpene Preservation
The terpenes that give your plants strain its unique aroma have lower boiling points than most cannabinoids. This makes it much easier to inadvertently lose terpenes to evaporation during the drying process. Drying your buds at a slow, steady rate helps prevent “terpene burn off.”

As you dry your flower, the trichome walls become more sturdy and less permeable. As the trichomes dry, the buds become less sticky and easier to handle. This also protects the bud’s resin and preserves the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids inside.

Preserving your plant’s terpenes also allows patients to experience the full-spectrum benefits unavailable in isolates or synthetic THC compounds. When terpenes and cannabinoids interact together within the endocannabinoid system, patients experience “The Entourage Effect.” So carefully drying your plants helps ensure adult users and patients glean all the positive effects your flower has to offer.

Increasing Potency and Aroma
Just as dehydrating fruit concentrates its sugars, drying buds and flower concentrates the cannabinoids and terpenes stored within the trichomes. When drying your flower, two processes take place to increase your bud’s potency.

Freshly Trimmed Plants Isn’t Dead Yet
Drying wet trim on plant drying trays allows the chemical reactions taking place within the plant's glands to continue because fresh trim remains alive during the early stages of drying. This does not occur if you use a commercial dehydrator or oven immediately after trimming.

Allowing the enzymes within the trichomes (such as THCA synthase) to continue converting CBGA into THCA for as long as possible, helps increase cannabinoid concentration. And every little bit helps improve the profitability of your final product.

Cannabinoid Concentration By Weight
Removing excess moisture greatly reduces the water weight of each bud, which increases cannabinoid concentration by weight. There are farmers that believe when small pieces of the stem “snap” as you bend them, the plant material is dry enough to cure. However, commercial and large-scale plants cultivators should use moisture analyzers that use the precise weight of your flower to determine its relative humidity.

Whether you are using a commercial moisture analyzer, or the “stem-snap” method, your buds are ready to cure when their water content is around 14%. When your buds are curing, they will continue to dry down to about 10–12%. Keep in mind, using a moisture analyzer will prove more reliable and allow you to maintain a scientifically repeatable drying processes.

It’s important to note that a little moisture enhances your customer’s experience. If your flower drops below 10% moisture content, it will likely result in a harsher smoking or vaping experience as is often associated with old plants.

The small amount of water locked inside the trichomes is needed to stabilize and preserve the cannabinoids and terpenes. And don’t forget that your revenue is calculated by how much product you sell by weight. Over-drying doesn’t just burn off cannabinoids and terpenes, it cuts directly into your sales.

Conclusion

We hope you found this article helpful and informative. Avoiding mold, fungus, and bud rot through efficient drying is important — and we’re here to help.

Top 3 Best Electric Plants Grinders in 2022

April 09, 2022

I think you’ll agree that there’s nothing that starts a sesh off better than using an amazing plants grinder that seamlessly grinds your buds down to the perfect consistency.

The best plants grinders efficiently get your flower to a consistency that hits smoothly, every time, no matter which method you choose to smoke.

Finding the best plants grinder is going to switch up your smoking experience for the better.

Don’t give yourself a headache. We did the research to find you the best plants grinder 2022.

Benefits of a Plants Grinder

Kief
“Kief” refers to the sticky pollen found on fresh flower. When collected in large amounts, it is highly potent and can be used as a form of unrefined plants concentrate. A grinder with a kief catcher will “sift” this pollen away from the ground bud. You can add it right back to your bowl or joint on the spot, or you can save it for a rainy day or special occasion. Kief can be used to crown a bowl, twax a joint, add potency to plants-infused baked goods, or make old-school plants hash.

Consistency
If you hand-roll your joints, you know that the consistency of your ground bud has everything to do with how it rolls and how it smokes. A good grinder doesn’t precisely “grind” plants; instead, it slices it to a perfect, fluffy consistency. Even if you pack a bowl or a vape, a finely ground, fluffy bowl smokes more evenly than a hand-ground, choppy bowl.

Less = More
Finally, a grinder can help you get more out of your bud, and it does this in a couple of ways. First, you won’t lose all of your sticky pollen to your fingertips. More importantly, though, you’ll get a more even burn and a cloud of smoother smoke — no more joints that burn up too quickly or bowls that smolder but never hit quite right.

Charges in 45 minutes or less via the included micro USB cable, and a battery indicator lets you know when it’s time to grind!

How to Use a Plants Grinder

The way you use a plants grinder depends on your model, but the basic idea is simple. First, break the nugs down into pieces that will fit in between your grinder’s teeth and place them into the grinding chamber. Place the lid on top and then twist it back and forth to grind the teeth against the bud.

If you’re using a 2-piece grinder, take off the lid and dump the ground flower from the same chamber where you loaded it. The ground bud will collect in the chambers below if you’re using a grinder with additional chambers.

Keep in mind that a grinder needs to be cleaned regularly to perform consistently. An uncleaned grinder will get sticky, which will make it harder to twist. Use a cotton swab and alcohol to rub-down the inner surfaces and between the teeth for basic cleaning.

PureGuardian H965 Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier VS Pure Enrichment MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

April 01, 2022

Do you ever wonder how you can have the best grow tent setup? Yes, you have got the lights and the tent, but is that enough? Not at all. You will still need to consider a lot of things to create the perfect grow tent setup.

Now, one of those things is a humidifier. Let’s say you have tried everything, but a quality humidifier for your grow tent. Chances are you won’t end up with satisfying results. And that’s why it’s important to get the best one you can.

Here, I will be diving deep into the best humidifier for a grow tent. So, if you are working on such a grow tent, this is the place to be for you. By the end of this article, you will get the perfect humidifier for your grow tent setup.

Difference Between a dehumidifier and a humidifier?

When growing plants indoors, it’s important to maintain the humidity levels in your grow tent. The difference between a dehumidifier and a humidifier is that a dehumidifier removes moisture from the air while a humidifier adds moisture to the air.

So which one do you need for your grow tent? If the humidity levels in your grow tent are too high, you can use a dehumidifier to bring them down.

If the humidity levels are too low, you can use a humidifier to bring them up.

In general, if you live in a dry climate, you’ll need a dehumidifier to keep the humidity levels in your grow tent at an optimum level. If you live in a humid climate, you may not need a dehumidifier at all, and can just use a humidifier.

PureGuardian H965 Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Features:

A humidifier produces an ultra-fine mist that doesn’t saturate the surrounding environment. It’s not expensive and is one of the most popular humidifiers in this price range for grow tents. It is a larger capacity humidifier than many other similarly priced models. It creates a nearly invisible, ultra-fine mist that keeps moisture in the air instead of settling on nearby surfaces. In addition to being our favorite grow tent, if you have a small tent at home, you may want to buy one more; the plastic jars are BPA-free and very quiet in operation. It allows you to guide the mist spout. When the water tank is empty, the humidifier will shut itself off, giving you peace of mind.

Pure Enrichment MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Features:

It’s a medium-to-small humidifier with a modern, sleek style, a bit like the beaker you might have used in science class. It’s not a high-capacity unit, but it’s bigger than some other compact options. It will run for about 10 hours on 3 glasses of water. It weighs just over a pound and doesn’t take up much space, which is why it’s the best choice for small tents. It will run for 10 hours at low speed, allowing you to leave it in your tent all day; however, it will only last 8 hours at high. It shuts itself off when the tank is empty; this is a nice feature, as dry running it would ruin it; however, every humidifier seems to have this feature, so it’s not a unique selling point.

Grow Tent Humidifier Buyer’s Guide

All humidifiers will do the job of adding moisture to the air in your grow tent, but how they do it, how well they do it, and several other factors come into play in deciding which one is best for your needs.

Let’s take a look at the features that make the biggest difference.

Size
This is perhaps the most important factor in determining which model is best for you. If you have a large grow tent or room, you will be able to accommodate a unit with a bigger footprint, which means it also has a larger capacity.

However, if you are operating out of a small tent that only fits a handful of plants, you will need a humidifier with a small footprint. In small tents, every foot of space is valuable, so the smaller the unit, the more plants can fit on the floor.

Output
How much moisture the unit puts out, and for how long, comes into play as well.

Since every humidifier has a finite amount of water it can hold (unless you have an industrial unit that has a direct line to your water supply), you will have to pay attention to how much it puts out and how many hours of the day it can run.

You may be able to turn it off from time to time, depending on your moisture needs. But if you have a larger tent, you will want to make sure your unit can operate for several hours before needing a refill.

Capacity
Much like output over time, capacity has a direct relationship to the size of your tent and the amount of water you will need daily.

A smaller reservoir will require you to add water more often, but will also result in the unit taking up less space, so there is an upside to a unit with a very low capacity.

Larger humidifiers with higher capacity reservoirs will not need to be filled as often, but they will take up more space.

Most humidifiers that are optimal for small to medium grow tents hold less than a gallon (around 4 liters) of water and will need to be filled once or twice daily.

Noise
Most of the humidifiers here are fairly quiet. Many of them are just a little louder than a whispered conversation, which is not nearly as loud as the fans you probably already have in your grow tent.

Noise is not a huge factor when purchasing one for a grow tent, but it may be important to some people who are sensitive to noise. In general, these units are not going to be loud enough to cause a problem.

Price
How much money you spend on one of these humidifiers depends on the features you need. Nearly every humidifier in the under fifty bucks range I checked out had a quiet operation, under a gallon capacity, some kind of lighting, and a way to adjust the mist.

When nearly every unit has similar features, you will look more closely at the price. In this case, you should be looking for warranties or brand recognition as a means to justify paying a higher price.

Conclusion

All of these things boil down to the fact that choosing the best humidifier for a grow tent is all personal. Whether you are looking for a budget pick or something that meets your requirement for easy cleaning is up to you.

Twister T6 Trimming Machine with Leaf Collector Vacuum VS Triminator XL Dry Trimming Machine

March 30, 2022

In the ages of the small home grow, trimming by hand was doable, but these days many of us have hundreds of plants turning out thousands of pounds of product. Considering one pound of flower often takes six to ten hours to harvest by hand — hand trimming no longer makes sense. You’d need to hire a large crew for it even to be possible before the crop was ruined.

Enter trimming machines. When they first hit the market back in 1997, they did an amateur job at best, but they’ve come a long way in the last twenty-something years. Now there are so many quality options it’s hard to settle on which to add to your operation.

We can help with that. Stick around. We’re about to share everything you need to know about picking the best bud trimmer for 2022.

Why do growers trim plants buds in the first place?

Harvest time has come! You are cutting down your homegrown plants buds to dry and cure them. But do growers need to trim their plants buds? When is the best time to trim, and why do growers trim buds in the first place?

Here are some reasons to trim buds:

“Top Shelf” Appearance — Trimmed buds are often considered higher quality. Most buds are completely manicured (or at least somewhat trimmed) when you see them in magazines, at the dispensary, and online. This is the appearance we’ve come to associate with “good plants” and so untrimmed buds may look less appealing to some people.
Better Smell — Buds that are trimmed before being going into jars tend to gain a stronger “plants” smell over time. On the flip side, untrimmed buds take on a “planty” hay smell if they’re stored in an airtight container for too long (several weeks to months).
Easier on Your Throat — Leaves are more “harsh” on your throat/lungs than flowers when vaping or smoking. Trimming off extra leaf matter makes buds more “smooth” to smoke or vaporize.
Higher THC Concentration — Even trichome-encrusted sugar leaves have a significantly lower concentration of THC and other cannabinoids than the flowers. That means trimmed buds tend to have higher levels of THC gram-for-gram.
Many growers want trimmed buds but don’t want to waste any THC, so they process their trim to extract the THC in the leaves separately. You have endless options for getting the good stuff out of your leaves and other trim, but my favorite ways are making dry ice hash, butter or canna caps. I sprinkle dry ice hash on top of bowls to skyrocket their potency, I use butter for edibles, and I love canna caps for the ability to easily dose edibles on the go!

Twister T6 Trimming Machine with Leaf Collector Vacuum

Features:

The Twister T6 is designed and engineered with the highest grade materials available, including high-performance ballistic-grade plastics, high-grade anodized alloy aluminum, and 304 stainless steel used throughout. The result is quite possibly the highest grade, most durable, easiest to use, easiest to clean, small-capacity trimmers ever made! The radical new small-capacity tabletop design allows for quality, hand trim-finished trimming speeds of up to 2 lbs/hr dry, 7 lbs/hr wet, right from the comfort of your own home! Finally. Homegrown, hand trim-finished product is now possible with an automated small machine trimmer.

Triminator XL Dry Trimming Machine

Features:

The Triminator XL Dry is the fastest dry trimmer on the market today. It can process a massive 60 pounds of dry material per HOUR. The XL Dry was designed to meet the demands of a large-scale production, by offering the user streamlined and repeatable processes and completely worry-free operation. Triminator’s proprietary technology eliminates metal on metal friction, which reduces the need for lubricants and keeps heat down. The closed loop system with no fan means 100% of the trim is captured, so it can be used in extracts without being beat up by fans or blowers. Innovative angular shear band geometry provides sharp, precise trimming every time.

What to Consider When Searching for the Best Bud Trimmer Machines — Buyer’s Guide

Not sure which is the best bud trimmer machine for you? This buyer’s guide will provide you with all the information you need to make a well-informed decision. We will cover everything from which factors to consider to the steps in the trimming process.

Hand Trimming
Interested in what the process trimming by hand involves? It usually looks a little something like this:

Once your plant is ripe, you harvest it by cutting the whole plant at the bottom. Then, you have the option of letting them dry out before trimming. You can also do a “wet trim” where you start cutting them immediately.

You want to wear gloves and use a good pair of scissors. Start by trimming off the big fan leaves. Then, cut each branch off of the main stem to make them easier to work. Cutaway any excess leaves until you get to the bud, being careful not to trim the actual bud.

Note: You are cutting away anything that does not have high concentrations of trichomes. Trichomes are small white crystals that naturally appear on the bud. These are responsible for producing cannabinoids such as THC.

Take care by using the tip of the scissors when cutting. This method will allow for more precise cuts and prevent your scissors from getting sticky. Also, be sure to limit direct contact with the bud as this will deteriorate the overall quality.

As you can see, trimming by hand takes a lot of time and requires patience and precision.

Machine Trimming
Machines often vary by manufacturer, so be sure to read the instructions for yours thoroughly.

Typically, they come with a bowl and have blades operated automatically or manually. The blades rotate and strip the bud of excess foliage. The process should be gentle enough not to damage the bud.

Even if you are trimming with a machine, you should wear gloves. In addition to being sticky, the resin can stain and stink up your hands.

The Different Types of Bud Trimmer Machines

The two different types are:

● Automatic: Automatic machines are better for large batches of plants. They have electric motors that make them easier to operate and speed up the process.

● Manual: If you’re buying a machine, you might wonder why there are even manual options available. They are cheaper, more common, and allow you to control how vigorously you want to trim your plants.

Different Methods of Trimming
Growers must decide between dry and wet trimming. As both methods can produce excellent results, it boils down to personal preference.

Dry Trimming
The dry method involves, well, drying your buds first. Growers hang them in a controlled environment for about a week to remove moisture.

Once they are dry, you can manicure them. It usually takes a little longer as the leaves are curled and shrunken. However, the dry method is much cleaner than the wet method.

Wet Trimming
This method refers to manicuring your buds right after you harvest them. Growers refer to it as “wet trimming” because the buds still have their moisture.

Why might a grower favor this method? Well, for one, the leaves are still open and easy to cut. Additionally, it’s easier to use a mechanical trimmer for “wet” leaves.

You will still have to dry the leaves after you cut them. Plus, the wet method is messier and can be harder on your scissors. You will have to clean them multiple times throughout the process.

Conclusion

Well, there you have it. We have tested most of the machines available on the market and without a doubt, the ones on this list are some of the best bud trimmers available to date. What do you think? Which machines have you tried?

ECO Farm Carbon Filter 4" VS CoolGrows 4 inch Air Carbon Filter

March 29, 2022

An activated carbon filter efficiently traps odors, bad smells, and unhealthy particles from the grow room. Choosing a high-quality activated carbon filter ensures proper functioning for a prolonged time.

Why should you avoid buying cheap activated carbon filters?

Cheap activated carbon filters are not efficient enough to remove unwanted smells, and toxic air pollutants inside the grow room. Besides, they won’t last long. Investing in decent activated carbon filters ensures proper functionality and a longer lifespan.

What Size Carbon Filter do I Need

The right carbon filter size is ideally one that complements your fan’s cm3 requirements. You can use the carbon filter size calculator to determine the requirements of your application right off the bat.

Alternatively, you can use a simple length x width x height/3 calculation. From this formula, you’ll get the amount of air (cubic feet per minute, CFM) you’ll need to ventilate your space and facilitate a 3-minute air exchange (your space will exchange contaminated air with fresh air in every 3 minutes).

And, again, you’ll need to match the number you get to your filter.

Take a look at this example.

Let’s assume you’ve got the following measurements:

Room size: 10ft x 12ft x 8ft =960 cubic feet

960 cubic feet/3 minutes=320CFM.

The 320CFM is the minimum recommendable CFM that allows for air exchanges every 2–3 minutes (20–30 times per hour).

You can use the same formula for recirculating systems, but this time you’ll have to divide by 1.5 instead of 3. This provides a high cycle rate while ensuring maximum air purification with each pass through the filter.

Anyways, after determining the size of to use, it’s time to figure out the fan size to pair with it. Here, you’ll need to measure the length, width and height (in meters) of your growing environment.

Multiply the length, width and height to get the cubic meter volume. Then multiply the figure you get by 20 or 30. The figure you get is the correct size of fan you need to use to facilitate air exchanges up to 20 or 30 times per hour (the recommended number; other factors may come in to play)

To allow for adequate ventilation, we recommend getting a fan that’s slightly above the figure you calculated. You also gotta factor in a 10–25% decrease in air flow caused by the resistance of transiting through the carbon filter chamber.

Pro Tip: If you’re using an exhaust system, steer clear of fans that exceed your filter’s exhaust rating.

Inner and outer mesh provides 53% open area allowing increased airflow, easy compact with the Inline Fan(not included). 4-inch carbon filter, 1050+ IAV Australian virgin charcoal bed.

Features to Look for in the Best Carbon Filter?

With a ton of options on offer, choosing the best carbon filter for grow tent can take a bit of digging. To make an educated purchase decision, the following is a rundown of the features to look for in the right carbon filter for grow room.

Durability: How long can your filter last? This is entirely dependent on the material used to construct the product. Steer clear of cheaply made filters that only last a couple of months, and opt for sturdy filters made with premium galvanized steel or aluminum materials.

Although they might be expensive, they’re sure to last up to two years without acting up, which will be worth your investment in the long run.

Quality of carbon: You should expect to find carbon (activated charcoal) inside the filters for scrubbing contaminants from the air. Is the carbon of high quality? And where is it sourced?

The filter should come with the highest quality charcoal or carbon. From our experience, charcoals obtained from virgin Australian beds are the best in adsorbing odors and chemicals.

The best quality carbon has a high adsorbent rate due to more carbon present, and will certainly cover a huge space. Before you choose, try to figure out the volume of charcoal used, degree of activation, particle sizing, nature, and source.

Thickness of carbon: The thicker the carbon, the greater the adsorption rate and elimination of foul odors. A thicker carbon actually makes the filer more effective in terms of odor control. Aim for a thickness of at least 50mm, such as the 6inch AC Infinity Air Carbon Filter which boasts 60mm thickness.

As expected, product with thicker carbon boast of a higher price tag. The good news is that their effectiveness is on a higher level.

Versatility: Does your device have the dual function? A multifunctional filter offers the best bang for your buck, because you can use it on inline or exhaust fan. A good example is the G HYDRO 6 inch air Filter, whose versatility is unbeatable.

As much as you wish to save on cash, I recommend opting for filters with dual role. This key function improves versatility and extends the life of your filter.

Pre-filters: Most top-rated filters now feature pre-filters for reducing particles like dust from coming into contact with the filter. You can put these pre-filters outside of your carbon filter to remove sediments from your grow room.

Filters that come packaged with pre-filters are longer lasting than those lacking them. They aid in eliminating larger contaminants that would otherwise get into the filter.

Portability: The more compact a device is, the lesser the noise and vibration it discharges during operation. Compact filters are also considered better at scrubbing odor and smell.

Plus, transporting the filter into the carbon granules is a walk in the park. Contrary to those with air pockets in between, this type of filter catches odor more efficiently, allowing you to enjoy odor-free environment.

Carbon filter-fan combo: Premium quality carbon filters come with a filter-fan combo. These choices take minimal effort to install and adjust. And the fan and filter combination is designed to complement each other for augmented air scrubbing performance.

Additionally, higher-tier models not only come complete with the fan-filter combo but also speed controlling devices. Such a package is an ideal 360-degree ventilation solution for your grow system.

Conclusion

Are you still wondering why should you avoid buying cheap carbon filters? Surely not! We got you covered on this topic. Thanks for reading!
